Another FNB Classic Clash at Faure Street

Match Preview

Klein Nederburg and New Orleans meet in an FNB Classic Clash at the Faure Street ground in Paarl on Saturday.

For the second successive Saturday there will be a huge and excited crowd at the ground. Last week Boys' High played Gim. This week it is the turn of Klein Nederburg and New Orleans.

New Orleans go into the match as firm favourites. Last week Gim were firm favourites but their margin of victory was not as great was expected. Such derbies can do funny things to form books. Last year New Orleans were firm favourites and won but just 8-0. Hew Orleans have three players back from that match – captain Harschall Collins, scrumhalf Grant Paulse and left wing Marlon Snyders who was flyhalf last year. Klein Nederburg have two back – captain Elrich Kroutz and hooker Elmarco Janjala.

Neither side had a player at either the Craven Week or the Academy Week though Dud-Lee Jonathan of New Orleans was at the Grant Khomo Week for Boland.

Both of these sides have light and mobile packs and fast backs, which should make for a fast and entertaining match.

A comparison of results this year suggests that New Orleans are favourites, but there may not be a lot in it.
