Ravenhill was miserable – cold, wet and windy for the last Test of the Australians' tour.
Australia played with the strong wind in the first half and Ireland led 8-3 at the break. A penalty by Australia followed by one by Ireland brought the score to 3-3. After sustained pressure the Irish No.8 Lorcan Dow scored in the corner. The Australians ha d a great chance to score just before half-time as they batter ted at the Irish line but crucially knocked on.
Playing into the second-half gale, the young Australians scored 11 points, Ireland none.
The first Australian score was by scrumhalf James Tuttle to darted down the blind side and levelled the scores at 8-all.
A yellow card for an Irish player helped the Australian cause as flyhalf Andrew Deegan of Joeys in Sydney kicked two penalties for the hard-fought victory.
