Bergrivier win Classic Clash
Match Report
In an attractive FNB Classic Clash played at Boland Stadium on Saturday, Bergrivier beat Wellington rivals Weltevrede 14-0.
The match was played in ideal conditions.
Bergrivier dominated the match up front and combined well with their backs. Weltevrede's negative tactics led to many penalties. Flyhalf Jacques Cupido scored two penalty goals which put Bergrivier 6-0 ahead at half-time.
Tight defence by Bergrivier kept Weltevrede away from their goal-line in the second half. The Bergrivier props, Tonela Tushwa and Cosmos Mohapi were outstanding in the scrums and the tight loose.
Another penalty by Jacques Cupido and a try in the dying minutes by outside centre Cornal Hendriks confirmed the victory.
