Bethlehem clash
In Bethlehem of the Free State there is a big FNB Classic Clash on Saturday when Voortrekker meet Witteberg.
The beautiful Eastern Free State will be alive with excitement. The two schools are only about two kilometres apart. Being close makes for greater interest and keener rivalry.
In recent years Voortrekker have been in the ascendant. After winning at home in 2010 they scraped him 25-24 with a late penalty goal at Witteberg in 2011, a score that makes for good rivalry. Last year, back home, Voortrekker won 74-5, not a score that makes for good rivalry but certainly one that should make Voortrekker's footsteps lighter as they trek the short distance to Witteberg.
The Season so Far
Voortrekker have been having a much better season than their rivals. They play stronger sides for one thing, including Grey College who beat them and Hentie Cilliers whom they beat, and they play more matches. They have won six matches and lost just two,.
Results against Common Opponents
They have just two opponents in common, both beating both.
HTS Welkom: Witteberg won 24-20, Voortrekker 82-9
Hoërskool Kroonstad (Blouskool): Witteberg won 58-7, Voortrekker 69-13.
