Big Climax to Wildeklawer, 2017
The last match of the 2017 Wildeklawer Tournament in Kimberley this year is a big one – Grey Bloem against Paarl Gim.
Grey ended second to Paarl Boys' High in the FNB Top 20 last year, Paarl Gim fourth.
It certainly is a tournament for strong sides.
Of the 20 teams talking part in this years tournament, 17 ended in the 2016 Top 20. The missing teams are Grey PE, Dale and Jeppe. The three who were not in the 2016 Top 20 are Waterkloof, Stellenberg of Durbanville and HTS Middelburg.
Helpmekaar Kollege of Johannesburg will be attending for the first time. They had a really good season last year and ended sixth on the Top 20.
The star attraction could well be Paarl Boys' High who were No.1 last year for the second year in a row, the third time in the last five years. Their 1st XV have now gone 40 matches unbeaten. And they play the country's top sides year in and year out.
