Bishops captain - Sam Mitchell
Bishops hold an impressive record against Rondebosch away from home having not lost to them since the new millennium, Bishops captain Sam Mitchell will want to keep that record intact this weekend.
The gigantic school-boy lock stands at almost two metres and weighs in at 115kgs, but besides his impressive metrics the captain has already amassed 37 first team caps as well has having played in the U16 Grant Khomo week.
When Mitchell was named captain it was clearly a huge honour, he especially feels privileged around 'Bosch week'.
"It is a tremendous honour to lead the team out on such a big occasion," he said of the upcoming FNB Classic Clash against Rondebosch.
"The vibe of the school changes in 'Bosch Week' as all the teams focus on the weekend’s fixtures.
"This fixture has an endless amount of history and both teams will go out onto the field willing to do whatever is necessary to make their schools proud."
Mitchell understands what is required in such a pressure situation having been part of the team that defeated Rondebosch last time out when they wore the tag of under-dog.
"We went into the last match against Rondebosch as underdogs and nobody expected us to win [last year]," the captain added.
"We saved our best for last and won the game 23-11 maintaining the record of not having lost away to Rondebosch this millennium."
Bishops have had a season of big wins and frustratingly close losses, with their attractive brand of rugby Mitchell hopes to round off the season on a positive note.
"We have had a successful season to date although we have suffered disappointing defeats to Glenwood, away to Paarl Gym and a tight home loss to Wynberg," the captain said of his teams season so far.
"As a team we measure our success on how we play the game of rugby and we have produced some superb performances of running rugby and skill between backs and forwards most notably away to SACS and at home to St Andrews."
It attests to the quality of Bishops personal to note that Mitchell is actually the stand in captain, with regular leader, fullback Gerard Pieterse, not available.
Unfortunately on Saturday we will be missing our regular captain and Craven Week Fullback Gerard Pieterse," Mitchell said.
"He has been in sublime form this season and we are incredibly lucky to be able to call upon such a talented and experienced replacement in Jesse Wilensky this weekend.
"The side is a very experienced one with 12 Matrics in the side.
Nine of the starting XV have played in the main game before and many members of the side are returning for a second year."
