Boland beat WP
What was dubbed the main match of the day, did not disappoint as both teams won their opening matches and were eager to prove themselves in the tournament.
Despite Western Province's great efforts, Boland proved just too strong and ran out 20-11 victors in the end.
Boland trailed 8-7 at the break, but they produced a fine second half performance to defeat their Western Cape neighbours in what proved to be a rematch of the 2015 Final.
Meanwhile, it was not a good day for the teams from Gauteng. The Golden Lions went down 17-34 to the Blue Bulls while the Golden Lions Extraordinary Education (EE) recorded a 11-39 loss to the Falcons.
In the other matches of the day, Eastern Province recorded a 32-25 victory over Southern Western District early in the morning. The Griffons redeem themselves with a 22-14 win over the hosts Blue Bulls EE, and the Pumas beat Kwazulu-Natal 31-10.
There will be no matches no Wednesday, June 29 but the tournament will continue on Thursday, June 30.
