Bulelani Litye - Captain of Ntsonkotha

Player Profile

Bulelani Litye captains Ntsonkotha in their FNB Classic Clash with Zweliyandila, a daunting tack if last year's match is anything to go by.

Last year Zweliyandila won the fixture 30-12. This year Bulelani, playing his third season for the first team, has no doubts about the outcome. He says: "We are going to win. I'm not thinking we are going to win. We are going to win."

He believes they have the forwards and the three-quarters to win the match.

In last year's match Bulelani was at fullback. This year he is at centre and is the captain of the team. He says: ""I like captaining the team because then I can care for my players."

Bulelani has a good background in rugby. His three brothers play – two for the local club Ocean Sweepers and the third, Aaron,, also formerly a player with Ocean Sweepers, is now a Border Society referee. In fact Bulelani also plays for Ocean Sweepers and  captains their side.

Bulelani has been playing rugby since he was eight years of age. Born on 14 September 1988 he is now in Grade 11. High rugby honours have largely passed him by except for selection for a Griffons Academy Under-15 side in Virginia in 2003. But rugby is Bulelani's game and he hopes to keep on playing when he leaves school.
