Cape Schools, Day 2

On Day 2 of the Cape Schools Week, being hosted by Grey in Port Elizabeth, Selborne, SACS and the hosts won their second match of the tournament.

The weather was not at its best but kind enough not to interfere with most of the rugby. It rained in the morning and then after the rugby.

Paarl Gim, although minus seven of their top players whom Western Province Schools require for National Weeks, gave Dale their second defeat of the Week.

Although Boland Landbou scored two tries to one the impressive boot of Curwin Bosch gave the home side a victory in a close encounter. Bosch was the star of the day – a complete flyhalf whose long kicks were invaluable to Grey. One kick was a dropped goal which scored from some 50 metres out. It is no wonder that scouts are interested.

Selborne was the third side to win its second match, beating Rondebosch comfortably after Rondebosch had lost on Saturday.

Muir had a good win over the Standard Bank XV, scoring three tries to one.

On Wednesday, two of the unbeaten sides meet – Grey and SACS while there could be a good battle between Boland Landbou and unbeaten Selborne.
