Cape Schools Week ends
Glorious day, glorious rugby, glorious spirit
It was again a perfect Cape day at Wynberg Boys' High when the happy Cape Schools week came to an end. It was a classy event from the seamless organisation to the splendid weather, the great view and the wonderful rugby.
Often bad incidents at schoolboy rugby are highlighted. This festival of good rugby, good sportsmanship and friendly behaviour deserved all the limelight it could get.
And if you have concerns about transformation and the future, this was the place to be. Transformation was happening naturally,m cheerfully and acceptably. And as a result the future of rugby looked to be in excellent hands.

St Andrew's vs SACS, 29-7
The two first met in 1896 when St Andrew's came to Cape Town from Grahamstown and played in the Colonial Colleges' tournament.
This time it was St Andrew's turn to win. The final score may well not have done justice to SACS resilience for it was only late in the game that St Andrew's stretched their lead, but it was always a possibility with their short passing, quick handling and creative running.
SACS did well in the line-outs but the St Andrew's loose forwards made a big difference.
St Andrew's were without their usual fullback, Tiger Bax, the source of much of the Grahamstown side's attacking. Kevin Bennett moved back into his place and played with great talent.
The absence of Bax meant the absence of a proficient kicker and St Andrew's resorted to drops for converts with wayward results.
Good handling produced a try for the St Andrew when lively hooker Jeremy Dobrowski burst over in the corner.
SACS took the lead. St Andrew's were running the ball just outside their 22 when flyhalf Carl Lewis, who gave the SACS side its direction, intercepted and raced through to score a try which fullback Andrew Theron converted.
The score was 7-5 till the last movement of the first half. St Andrew's won a line-out inside their own 22 and started running. They went left, right and left again for right-wing Joshua Kibirige to score at the posts. Peter Vogel dropped the conversion over.
Kevin Bennett scored when St Andrew's moved the ball from a line-out and Joshua Kibirige made the running down the tight wing before passing inside.
Jeremy Dobrowski was prominent in the next try as well as St Andrew's attacked down the right flank and outside centre Chris Nel surged over.
By the time of the last try SACS were flat on the ground as lock combined with lock. Martin Hitge broke free, pounding straight down the field before he gave to Andrew Prior who broke galloped over at the posts. Peter Vogel got the kick over.
Scorers:
For St Andrew's:
Tries: Jeremy Dobrowski, Joshua Kibirige, Kevin Bennett, Chris Nel, Andrew Prior
Cons: Peter Vogel 2
For SACS:
Try: Carl Lewis
Con: Andrew Theron
