Captain’s profile: Albert Senekal
Volkskool captain Albert Senekal wants to cap an “unforgettable” season by leading his team to victory over Union High on Saturday.
Enjoying his second season of first team rugby, the loose forward has this year captained Volkskool by example – maintaining the same tireless workrate he showed in the season opener throughout the campaign, while motivating his troops and making sound decisions.
“We have had a very good and enjoyable season that included beating Fort Beaufort on their home ground. I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” said Senekal.
“I’m very proud and it’s a great privilege to captain Volkskool. We have a very experienced team as most of the players also played for the first team last year, with a few young players coming in this year.”
He knows, however, that it will take a complete performance to topple Union and arrest their winning streak.
“Union have managed to narrowly win for the past three years in what were all hard-fought games. They have a very fast team, so they will take us on with their speed and they will give it their all to win this year but we are a strong side and I’m confident that we will get the win on Saturday.”
