Captain's profile: André Lategan
The fiery hooker has been a star throughout his schoolboy rugby career, representing Eastern Province at U13, U16 and U18 level and has signed a three year contract with the Kings with his sights set on playing for the Junior Boks.
He said the experience of representing his country has been the highlight of his rugby career, describing it as an 'excellent experience and wonderful learning curve'.
However, this weekend Lategan's attention will be firmly fixed on the FNB Classic Clash against Nico Malan in Humansdorp.
He leads an inexperienced team with just four matrics in the starting line-up, and although it has been something of a tough year for them Lategan promised that they will give it everything on Saturday.
"It is predominately a young group of players with only about four matrics. It would be the strongest side we field on Saturday.
"Unfortunately we have been below par this year but we keep fighting no matter the circumstances," he said.
Lategan does his best to lead from the front and set an example as a hooker for the rest of the team to follow.
"As a player my work rate, line-out throws and ball carries are my strengths and as captain I am cool, calm and collected.
"I try to set an example by being humble and making things happen, work hard, play hard," he said.
Although Framesby have had the better of Nico Malan over the last few years, Lategan knows that they will be in for a tough examination this weekend.
"In the last five years the first team only lost once.
"We are expecting a physical battle upfront and perhaps a few off the ball things which could disrupt our style of play.
"My message to the team has been to stay humble, work hard, lift the intensity and focus on the job at hand," he said.
