Captain's profile: Ayyoob Moerat

New Orleans Secondary captain Ayyoob Moerat has driven home the importance of composure and commitment ahead of their clash with Klein Nederburg Secondary on Saturday.

“This week I have been telling the guys to be calm, concentrate and be alert to all decisions. They must give 100% on Saturday,” commented Moerat.

“I am expecting the guys to play their best, play their hearts out and make us proud.”

If ever there was a captain who leads from the front it is the New Orleans hooker and skipper, who at 1.83m and 118kg, is an imposing figure and barnstorming ball-carrier.

His size and scrummaging technique make him an anchor in the scrums and he is an accurate lineout thrower, ensuring his backline gets clean set piece ball.

Moerat believes their successful campaign, which has seen them achieve 14 wins and suffer just one defeat, comes down to their well-balanced squad.

“We have mixed experience and young players this year. The younger players fit in well and the experienced players know their job,” said Moerat.
