Captain’s profile: Bester Olivier

Langenhoven Gim captain Bester Olivier strives to be the best in everything he does.

Be it as captain or eighthman, Olivier strives for perfection. It’s a trait that will stand the 1.74m, 83kg Olivier in good stead and drive his teammates to give their all when they take on Point High on Saturday.

“John F Kennedy said once you say you're going to settle for second, that's what happens to you,” says a philosophical Olivier, who impressed for the South Western Districts Academy team earlier this year.

“As captain I do my best to keep my teammates calm and lead by example,” says Olivier.

Olivier has led a young team comprising mostly grade 11s this season. He says Langenhoven Gim have produced a number of good performances this season.

“We played well against Paarl Boys High and Outeniqua, had a good win against Brandwag and a draw with Nico Malan.”

He concedes that Point High, having played several matches against the lone fixture Langenhoven Gim have played this term, have had ideal preparation for the weekend’s FNB Classic Clash but he is nevertheless confident that they will prevail on Saturday.
