Captain's Profile: Brendan Haymans

It is going to be an absolute brawl when HS Eldoraigne host Centurion rivals Zwartkop in a Classic Clash on Saturday.

Captain and No.8 Brendan Haymans believes the rivalry and tradition burns as strong as ever and that his positivity as the leader helps bring he squad together and adds to their friendships.

"There has always been a good tradition and rivalry between the schools and this match will be no different. We expect it to be an absolute brawl of a clash because the Kings of Centurion title is on the line.

"We have had a very good season thus far and I think it comes down to the friendship between everyone in the squad. We are a tight-knit unit and I think my ability to remain positive and keep the unit positive has made it easier to form the friendships and allowed us to get along well with each other.

"It is a huge honour to lead this team but with that honour comes huge responsibility so I try, as much as I can, to keep the school's name as high as I can and portray a positive image of the style of rugby we play.

"As captain, it is important to remain positive throughout every practice and every match, regardless of what the scoreboard says or the momentum of the game," he said.

Once the Grade 12 pupil leaves school, he will be studying Electrical Engineering.
