Captain's profile: Christo Hamman
With two consecutive Craven Week tournaments representing SWD to his name, Christo Hamman will lead a strong Oakdale side against Marlow in a FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.
The flyhalf will be without Adre Smit, who misses the clash due to injury, but knows he will be in for a highly physical and fast-paced encounter.
"Oakdale against Marlow is always a massive game on the calendar and is always a hard, physical match. We know they will come hard at us with a highly robust game that makes use of a high tempo of running rugby.
"We will field a very strong team with the exception of lock Adre Smit who misses the match with injury, so we have the strongest possible squad available for the match," he said.
Hamman, who describes their away victory over Hoerskool Outeniqua as his highlight of the season, believes Oakdale's season was – for the most part – fairly successful.
"I really believe that we have had a successful season thus far, despite losses to HTS Middelburg, Paul Roos and Paarl Gym. It has been an absolute pleasure and honour to captain this team this year.
"Our time wearing the white jersey is running out and we want to end off our schooling career on a high note in our last three matches. We know we are a better side than what we displayed against Paarl Gym and want to go out this week and prove that to ourselves and the school," he added.
He believes that building a relationship with his teammates off the field is the key in helping to get the best out of them on the field, which all makes for a better team dynamic.
He will be heading to Pretoria in 2016 to link up with the Blue Bulls Union to further his playing career while studying at Tuks.
