Captain's profile: CJ Velleman
Grey High's CJ Velleman is as experienced as a high school captain gets, and his long career comes to an end against Selborne this weekend.
The dynamic openside flank first captained a team at Grey when he was in the Under-11 age group, and held the position right through until he reached the first team when he was in Grade 11 last year.
That all concludes with a big FNB Classic Clash against Selborne on Saturday, and he is determined to go out with a bang.
"It will be quite emotional, that is for sure. It is our last game together as a team and there will be a full house there with all the old boys from both sides," he said.
Although Grey have not had things all their own way this season, they have hit some good form in recent weeks, and Velleman is hopewful that they can make that count on Saturday.
"We let ourselves down with a few losses here and there earlier in the season. But we have played some big schools and given it a bash," he said.
The Grey captain, who plans to stay in Port Elizabeth to study a BSc at NMMU while at the Kings academy next year, is expecting a highly physical game against Selborne as both teams give it everything in their final match of the season.
