Captain's profile: Craig Corbett
Craig Corbett, captain of Paarl Boys High, says no quarter will be asked and none given when they lock horns with rivals Paarl Gimnasium on Saturday.
"Inter-schools is always a hard clash. We expect their best, because that's what we'll be giving,” declared Corbett, who anchors the Paarl Boys scrum in the hooking berth.
Under Corbett's leadership, Paarl Boys have lost just a solitary match all season and he undoubtedly has his troops ready for the challenge that lies ahead on Saturday.
"The team knows inter-schools is more than just the game on the field. Mental preparation has been key this week.
"I make sure that my players win the battle off the field, in order for them to be victorious on the field," said the cunning Corbett.
Cracking a Craven Week nod in 2011 and 2012, Corbett boasts big-match temperament to go along with his industrious play and articulate leadership skills.
"I try to play as close to the ball as possible, you can't play without the ball, and as captain I like to motivate my players individually," he explained.
He added that it will be a well-oiled Paarl Boys side who confront opposing captain Handre Pollard and his Paarl Gim side this weekend.
"The majority of the team has played together since grade eight, so we know each other very well," he said.
