Captain's Profile: Duncan Horak
With history on their side, AHS Kroonstad (Rooiskool) captain Duncan Horak will be determined as ever to maintain his side's stranglehold over arch-rivals Hoerskool Kroonstad (Blouskool) when the sides meet in a Classic Clash.
Rooiskool have not lost this encounter in seven years and Horak is looking to continue their winning momentum following last year's record 52-0 victory.
Horack will unfortunately not be part of the team though, after suffering a season ending knee injury and Ettiene O'Donovan has been handed the captaincy for the remainder of the season.
"I injured my knee which brought an end to my season but that is the only injury we have. The rest of the team is very experienced and are ready for the match.
"History is on our side because we have not lost this match in seven years, so we will definitely want to keep that record intact. We know they will throw everything they have at us because they are motivated to turn their fortunes around against us," Horak said.
The scrumhalf was part of the Griffons Academy Week team this year and feels that experience has helped him grow as a player and assist in leading the team.
"Hopefully I was able to transfer my experience of playing in the Academy Week to the players before I got injured and now they can take that and implement it into this match.
"It is always an honour to lead your school in such an important rivalry and we have prepared well to continue our good form this season. Thus far, we have only lost one match but more than that though, we have been playing some really good rugby," he added.
The matriculant will study Accounting once he completes his schooling career while remaining active in the game.
