Captain's profile: Eric Job

Spandau captain Eric Job has played in the first team for four years and has never lost to Graaff-Reniet rivals Asherville.

After enjoying such a dominant record in this derby over the years Spandau will start the game full of confidence, but the experienced Jobs knows that it will not simply be a case of pitching up as Asherville will make life difficult for his team.

Spandau sealed a narrow 8-7 victory with a late try last year and their captain, who has made the No.9 jersey his own, does not intend to make his last year his only loss to Asherville.

Jobs leads a team with seven Matrics and a crop of younger players who he says are 'doing really well', but he describes their results this season as '50/50' so there is a lot riding on this FNB Classic Clash.

According to the Spandau skipper the key to victory will be total commitment and the composure to take the opportunities that they are presented with.

"We will have to give everything and finish off every chance we get," he said.

Job knows exactly where his opponents strengths lie, and explained that the key to shutting down Asherville's dangerous backline is to take them on at the breakdown.

"They have a very skilful backline so we will need to slow their ball down, our pack is quite strong so we will try and secure our own ball," he said.

Jobs plans to study teaching next year at NMMU, and would love to end up playing for the Madibaz one day but is conscious of the need to strike a balance between the two.
