Captain's profile: Henco Greyling

Grey College captain Henco Greyling is one of the most experienced first XV players in the school's history.

Eighthman Greyling made his first team debut as a Grade Ten student in 2010 and has since racked up over 40 caps for the side.

Over this period he has gone from wide-eyed newcomer to respected captain and gained valuable Craven Week experience.

He says Grey’s rugby culture has refined him into a smart and well-rounded player.

“I’ve grown a great deal as a player at Grey in all aspects of the game. It’s such a professional set-up that I’m confident that I can join any academy next year and perform thanks to the foundation Grey has given me,” says Greyling.

Greyling is currently weighing up offers from the Cheetahs, Lions and Leopards but for the time being he’s fully focused on leading Grey to victory over rivals Paul Roos on Saturday.

The experienced Greyling has never lost to Paul Roos and it's a record he intends to keep when he runs out in Grey colours for the final time this weekend.

“It’s been a tremendous honour to play so many games for Grey and to captain the first team. I’ve enjoyed every moment of it, from first entering the team to helping to groom the younger players.

“We have a proud record against Paul Roos and for many of us it will either be our last game for Grey or last home derby against Paul Roos so the guys are going to be fired up.”
