Captain's Profile: Ickie Roos
Vereeniging Gim captain Ickie Roos hopes that his side has what it takes to beat the more fancied Transvalia in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.
It has been a tough season for the men from Vereeniging so far but they have had some good results to make up for some disappointing losses along the way.
Roos said: "We have had our up's and down's and the games that we won have given us a lot of confidence but the losses have also helped up grow.
"We had a very close loss to Centurion earlier in the season which we felt could have gone our way," Roos added.
The fixture against Transvalia last year did not end in their favour which means that there is a little bit of added pressure on his side but Roos believes his side are up for the occassion.
"Last year they beat us by four points so we are a confident this year.
"Having a Classic Clash is very special for us because we don't often get opportunities like this and we feel we deserve a shot at something like this where we can show the country that we can achieve great results," he added.
The flyhalf will be playing in his second fixture against Transvalia and his experience is going to paramount in their game. He has been involved full-on in his side and his team have been inspirational in him playing some great rugby this year.
"I've had a good season this year and my friends in the team have helped me through this season and it has made it easier.
"Being captain has helped my game and it has helped me take responsibility and lead by example," Roos said.
