Captain's profile: James Moore
Union High captain James Moore hopes to lead his team to a historic win when they face off against Volkskool on Saturday.
“We won 16-6 last year and if we win this year it will be the first time in history that UHS has won three years in a row,” explains a motivated Moore.
A star in the making, Moore captained Eastern Province in this year’s Craven Week and at 1.87m and 92kg, the strong-running outside centre takes some stopping in midfield.
In addition to his obvious ball-carrying ability, Moore is a good decision-maker in pressure situation and leads by example. He’s also not one to rest on his laurels and rely on his physical gifts; he’s a firm believer that hard work and dedication pays off and trains accordingly.
He will lead out an experienced Union High first XV on Saturday and expects their Volkskool foes to throw everything at them.
“Saturday’s team consists of mostly matrics. It is an experienced team and we are up for the big challenge.
“It is always a very hard game. We are expecting them to be tough and physical; they will throw everything at us.”
