Captain's profile: Janco Swart
Despite being only the third Classic Clash, they have been competing against each other for years and Hoërskool Hoogenhout have always found themselves on the losing side in this Hoogies-Errie rivalry.
With two years’ experience in the first XV jersey, Swart realises that seeking a victory in Ermelo is a mammoth challenge – and some might say impossible – for his young team.
"Our season so far has had a lot of ups and downs. Winning some matches gives the guys confidence just as easy as losing games kicks the wind out of the team.
"Nonetheless, Saturday is a time to redeem ourselves and put our names in the history books. We are a relatively young group, with some senior figures, who will be facing Ermelo.
"I anticipate a really hard fought match. I am sure they will not hold back and will come with full force. They want to keep that success rate against us intact," Swart said.
Being named captain is just one of the accolades in the young man's continued rugby career. But one accolade that does stand out, is his inclusion in the Puma Under-16 Academy team.
"The highlight so far would be being selected for the Pumas U16 team. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about the sport. I think it has given me the necessary tools to lead my team as captain.
"Captaincy is a huge honour and privilege. To receive that acknowledgement and trust from the coaches and my team mates really means a lot to me.
The No.8 is a guy who rarely talks as he believes in acting rather and behaving up to a certain standard, so that the team will follow the lead naturally.
"My strength as a captain is setting an example and keeping the team in a positive mindset.
"I believe that the person who talks about winning seldom wins but the person who shows he wants to win, he will win.
"Thus my message to the guys is that we must be focused on our goal and when we step onto the field [on Saturday] there is no time to be scared," he added.
