Captain's Profile: JL du Plessis
Griffons Under-19 representative Jan-Louis du Plessis will lead an experienced Blouskool side that are raring to go for their massive Classic Clash against arch enemy Rooiskool in Kroonstad.
Bloues will play hosts this year to a fixture that has been dominated by the opposition, however, the captain believes that standing together as a unit will be key to breaking Rooies' stronghold.
"We have to stand together as a unit, give it our all, trust each other and remember to enjoy the encounter. That will be key to us being successful at the end of the day.
"We lost our first choice scrumhalf to a knee injury that ended his season but we remain an experienced group of players. We know it is going to be a very physical encounter. They like to use their big forwards as runners and it is always a big contest at the breakdown.
"They have had the better of us over the last few years but hopefully the bounce of the ball will go our way this time around," he said.
Having been part of the first XV set-up since 2013, the versatile loose forward believes his positive personality and the way he handles himself on the field will be key factors in bringing the best out of his fellow players.
"I am a positive person and always try to bring the best out of my fellow players. I believe my execution at line-out time and my work at the breakdowns serves as motivation for the rest of the guys to give their best on the field.
The matriculant is hopeful of pursuing a career as a physiotherapist while remaining active in the game he loves so much.
