Captain's Profile: Jurie Fick
Drostdy will field their most experienced side for their upcoming Classic Clash against Worcester as they look to maintain their winning record against their rivals.
They will captained by Grade 12 flank Jurie Fick, who has Craven Week experience, and he expects the match to be tightly contested but admits they will not underestimate their opponents.
"Fortunately for us, we have no injuries to worry about and can field a full strength, experienced squad. I know they will come at us and throw everything they have at us but we will be up for the challenge.
"If history is anything to go by then it's really looking good for us but anything can happen and the game is won on the day. We managed to get the better of them last year with a 20-12 victory but we will definitely not underestimate them and will bring out our best rugby against them," he said.
The flank is celebrating his third year in the first XV and describes his highlight of his career being named in the SA Schools squad in 2014 and feels honoured to be able to use his experience to lead the side.
Drostdy have had a fairly good season thus far and managed to beat Waterkloof High School along the way but Fick knows there are still plenty of improvements that need to be made.
"Playing in the Craven Week helped me to learn a lot because it was a super experience. I was also fortunate enough to be selected into the 2014 SA Schools team.
"It is a great honour leading a great team and school and I believe by using the experience I have gained over the years helps me to lead by example and show the team to never give up.
"Our team philosophy is to focus on being there for each other both on and off the field so that we can all have a better understanding of each other. I would say we are a brotherhood and it shows in our performances. This year, we managed to beat Waterkloof High School but I know we can, will and must improve," he added.
Fick is yet to finalise his future plans but knows rugby will definitely be a part of it.
