Captain's profile: Liam Greenhalgh

The schools met earlier in the year with Bishops claiming a fairly convincing 36-23 victory, in fact they have a stranglehold over Rondebosch – having come out victorious on three consecutive occasions in the recent past.

However, Greenhalgh and his band of experienced matriculants will do everything they can to turn the result around in what is their final fixture donning the Bosch jumper.

"We need to ensure that we take in and enjoy every moment throughout the week and the game because it's our last opportunity to be privileged enough to represent this fine institution. We know we can't control the outcome, so our focus will be on just playing to the best of your ability.

"It is going to be a special occasion for most of us as will consist of mainly matrics with a few key players that played 1st XV in 2014. Experience is on our side but there will always be one or two injuries but that is part of the game.

"They [Bishops] have come out victorious in the past three encounters with the last two being very closely contested matches. So we are expecting a typical Bishops side that consists of highly skilled players that play fast, running rugby. They will capitalise on any opportunity given to them," Greenhalgh said.

The 17-year-old, Grade 12 packs down at the back of the scrum and boasts 29 first XV caps, 13 of those as captain, admits they have not had the best season but there have certainly been moments that have seen them produce their best rugby.

"We have had moments that has seen us play to our full potential as a team but consistency has been a challenge throughout the season. Overall, we have produced some marvelous spectacles of schoolboy rugby and have made many memories along the way.

"It is crucial that I, as captain and player, am prepared to put in 100 percent effort in whatever I do on the field. I strive to play my part in the team to the best of my ability but am also able to handle pressure and learn from my mistakes.

"I need to ensure that I set the example and be the inspiration the team needs to unlock their full potential. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as captain and feel extremely privileged to have been able to lead this team," he added.

While he is yet to determine which degree he wants to study, Greenhalgh is certain about one thing – pursuing a career in rugby.
