Captain's profile: LJ van Greunen

Cradock captain and tighthead LJ van Greunen may still be in Grade 11, but he intends to literally lead from the front against Gill College this weekend.

Van Greuenen leads an inexperienced Cradock side with only two Matrics against their old rivals in their FNB Classic Clash this weekend, and they will be looking for revengs after losing at home last year.

Luckily there are only four players in the team that played in that home defeat last year, and Van Greunen is hoping that they will be able to dictate matters away from home.

"Most of the team have come through together in the same age group, and we are really pumped up for this game so we are ready to play our hearts out," he said.

The imposing front row forward represented Border last year when he was Under-16, and he knows that his team's entire season rests on this result.

"We have struggled a bit this year, we played some tough sides but it is all about the Classic clash now – if we win then it is a good season," he explained.

The Cradock captain knows that Gill are a very dangerous side, and expects them to run the ball in front of their home crowd.

"Gill are a tough side and they have had a good season. They are not going to let us win so we will have to play really well," he said.
