Captain's Profile: McNeil Jacobs
Schoonspruit are preparing themselves for an epic battle against bitter rivals Wolmaransstad in a Classic Clash on Saturday.
Schoonies' captain McNeil Jacobs believes his fairly inexperienced side will stand their ground against the bigger forward pack of Wolmaransstad in what is sure to be a tightly contested match.
"We will be heading into the match with a fairly inexperienced team for first XV level but that does not take away from our positive mindset. Our matches against Wollies are always tightly contested, especially when it is a Classic Clash.
"We expect them to have a big pack of forwards and bring a fast tempo game to us as they always do and it will definitely be a hard game." he said.
The 17-year-old matric pupil considers himself as a ball stealer who prides himself on his high work rate on the field and lives by the philosophy of completing anything he starts.
"It is a huge honour to lead the team and I believe that I lead by example. I would consider myself to be a ball stealer who has a high work rate on the field. I am the type of player who remains true to himself and never gives up while never underestimating my opposition.
"Our season thus far has not been as good as we would have hoped but we are improving with every game. For the upcoming match, I'm hoping the team will just do their best, not play for anyone else but the brother next to him and let the rest take care of itself. We have worked hard and will not be an easy target," he added.
The No.8 is planning on studying Medical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch while remaining involved with the game.
