Captain's profile: Sastri Prince
Asherville have had a great season so far and their captain Sastri Prince is determined to cap it off with a victory over Spandau on Saturday.
The livewire scrumhalf has led his team to ten victories out of their 12 matches this year, but the big one is the FNB Classic Clash against their Graaff-Reniet rivals who have had the edge over them in recent years.
Sastri has never beaten Spandau, and after last year's heartbreak when a late try brought an agonising 8-7 defeat he is desperate to hit back in what will be his last chance.
The Asherville captain is feeling positive as he believes that his team is a more settled and dangerous unit than they were last year.
"The boys are ready for them, we have played more games than last year and we are playing better so we believe that we can do it," he said.
Sastri has applied to Stellenbosch University where he plans to study teaching and play rugby for the famous Maties, but this week his focus is on getting one past Spandau for the first time.
The nippy halfback who represented the EP Country Districts in Sevens last year will hope to spark a quicksilve backline that will be out to test Spandau's defence out wide.
"We have a good backline with plenty of speed on the wings so we will take it wide but we need to cut down their space on defence as well," he explained.
Although much is expected of the backline Sastri knows that his forward pack will have to produce a solid platform if they are to dictate terms against what is sure to be a physical Spandau outfit.
"Our pack has been on good form, we are solid in the scrums and we have only lost three line-outs all season so we are feeling good and we just have to perform on Saturday," he said.
