Captain's profile: SD du Plessis

Hoërskool Sasolburg captain Shawn-Dean du Plessis wants his team to give a 100 percent when they face HTS Sasolburg on Friday.

The 17-year-old has been playing for his school’s first team for the last three years and is proud to represent them.

"I am honoured and proud to be part of this team. I try to put as much effort as I can into getting to where we want to every week," said Du Plessis.

The big No.8, who played Grant Khomo rugby in 2013, believes his team has the right components to it to continue their winning streak over HTS Sasolburg.

"We are a very young, talented and energetic group of players. In the last few years we have performed better as a team and beaten HTS.

"We are expecting a hard, physical and mental game from them," he said.

Du Plessis' message to his team this week was one that echoes teamwork and hard work.

"I want them to think ahead, play together as a team and to give everything for each other," he added.

Du Plessis hopes that his team gets to where it wants to be in the future. He also wants to try and carry on with his rugby career in the future.
