Captain's profile: Seko Buthelezi
Maritzburg College skipper Seko Buthelezi knows that his team will have to play hard until the final whistle if they want to beat Glenwood this weekend.
The College headboy has captained every team that he played in throughout his school career, and he will need all of his leadership experience if his side are to get over the line against a well-drilled Glenwood team.
"We are expecting a really tough game. They have got some big, fast, strong boys in their side and they like to throw the ball around. Should be a nice open flowing game of rugby," he said.
The industrous lock, who played for Kwa-Zulu Natal at Grant Khomo Week in 2011, did not play in either of College's two draws with Glenwood last year, but he is in no doubt about what will be required on Saturday.
"I didn't play in either of the games last year, but I did watch and in both the games the teams came from behind to sneak a draw right at the death. We need to play all the way to the end of the game; and, never give up if you are behind," he explained.
Buthelezi, who plans to study medicine at the University of the Free State next year, has not been completely satisfied with his team's results in the school's 150th anniversary year, and has called on his side to maintain their focus throughout the match against a dangerous Glenwood outfit.
"Our results have been a little disappointing; we have drawn two games that we should have won and one that we lost to a penalty in the last move of the game.
"We have been a little inconsistent during a game; not playing for the full 70 minutes. Our strengths are that we play as a team and have no individual heroes. We need to improve on our concentration levels during the game," he said.
