Captain's profile: Simon Bolze

Queen's captain Simon Bolze is hoping that his team can capitalise on their good form and make it a double over their old rivals Dale this weekend.

The Border Craven Week flyhalf has led his school to seven consecutive victories, and he has got his sights set on ending his school rugby career with a bang against Dale.

Bolze has played for the first team since Grade 10, and the deputy headboy also captained the side in U14 and U15, so he is no stranger to the leadership position.

The team that will play Dale this weekend features nine Matrics who have come through the age-groups with Bolze as their captain, so they have a good understanding which led to win over big schools like Maritzburg College, St Andrews and Selborne this year.

However, Bolze knows that it will not be easy against Dale who will be fired up to prove a point on Saturday.

"Our first game in junior school was against them so there is a lot of tradition and rivalry between the schools. We beat them 6-0 at home this year but it was pouring with rain so you can't read too much into that," he said.

The Queen's skipper, who has signed a contract with the Bulls and will study Sports Science at Tuks next year, believes that the key on Saturday will be making the most of the confidence his team has built up in the last few weeks.

"We just want to keep our form and confidence up by doing the basics well. Dale always up their game against us and we will never underestimate them," he said.
