Captain’s profile: Taswell Singh
Klein Nederburg captain Taswell Singh is in the beginning stages of his first XV career but is already proving to be a strong leader.
At 16, the livewire hooker is in his debut season of first team rugby and has taken to it like a duck to water, not just as a player but a leader as well.
He captain’s a young squad who is full of potential but missing some first-choice players heading into Saturday’s FNB Classic Clash against New Orleans in Paarl.
“It is a privilege to be the captain,” he said. “I believe in discipline and hard work, I’m a dedicated player and aim to lead from the front.”
Klein Nederburg were on the wrong end of the scoreline in the last two first XV derbies, however, Singh has a proud unbeaten record against the traditional foe at Under-14, Under-15 and Under-16 level.
He’s determined to extend his winning streak and believes his team are constantly improving.
“The season started slow and as the players became more committed the season became more progressive,” said Singh.
“I expect them to be very competitive but I also expect my teammates to do their best and play their hearts out.”
