Captain’s profile: Tiaan Engelbrecht
HTS Sasolburg captain Tiaan Engelbrecht wants to knock off Sasolburg one last time when the rivals collide in a FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.
This year marks the third season of first team rugby for eighthman Engelbrecht and the experienced campaigner considers the win over the old enemy two years ago as his most memorable.
"Winning the Classic Clash in 2011 is the highlight of my rugby career to date,” says Engelbrecht, a strong ball-carrying loose forward who endeavours to put his team on the front foot with ball in hand.
“It is a huge honour,” he says of captaining the first XV.
Engelbrecht believes it will take a concerted team effort from the first to the final minute of the match for them to add another win to their name.
“Sasol High has a really good team this year. It’s going to be really physical, but we don’t stop when we are tired, we stop when we are done,” he says.
Engelbrecht adds that they plan to make a name for themselves on the big FNB Classic Clash stage.
“We have a great balance between new players and players who are playing first team rugby for a second year and we want to show how great we are.”
