Captain's Profile: Tristan Dixon

Kearsney College captain Tristan Dixon is well aware of the challenge they face in their upcoming Classic Clash with Northwood High School on Saturday.

Boasting Craven Week experience, the 18-year-old flank – who is in his second year of representing the first XV – believes his opponents will be extra motivated to do well on their Old Boys Day.

"We know they are a strong defensive team and will not allow anything through their line, especially on their Old Boys Day but we are looking to maintain our winning.

"We are a well-balanced team that has a great mix between experienced first XV players and a few younger players who are willing to die to wear the jersey," he said.

Dixon, who prefers speaking through his actions on and off the field, had an interesting message for his team ahead of the match.

"We need to take each game as it comes and not let complacency creep into our minds. We also need to ensure that we shut out the TV cameras and stay fully focused on the job at hand," he added.

Dixon views being handed the captaincy as a great honour that comes with massive responsibility and is the highlight of his playing career thus far.

He has aspirations of playing the game at the highest possible level and is hopeful of studying a BSc degree when he matriculates.
