Captain's profile: Willem Coetzee

The home side knows the importance of this match as they seek to avenge their 2015 defeat.

Landboudal walked away comfortable 43-3 victors on that occasion and it will be up to Coetzee to lead the Augsburg men to what will be a morale boosting victory.

With 43 first XV caps to his name, Coetzee is expecting nothing but a battle from the opposition.

"I am expecting a hard and physical match. Some of their big players have left school but I know it will still be a tough game," he stated.

However, the 18-year-old is confident that his relatively young team have the ability to overcome the opposition.

"Our team on Saturday will consist mainly of young players who are playing in the Under-19 league for the first time this year. Only one of our flanks won’t be able to play this weekend, but luckily we have a young player to fill the position.

“Even though we only have a few senior players, I still believe we are a great team. This season has been very successful so far. Out of our eight games, we have won seven," he added.

Augsburg will rely heavily on Coetzee's strength as a lock and beliefs as a captain.

"My greatest strength is my fitness and thanks to that, I can lead the team through my way of playing the game.

"My philosophy as the captain is for our team to play as one unit, a family. When we play as a unit every player in the team will be able to reach their full potential. If every player does this, it can be a great year – we will all play in honour of the One who gave us these talents.

"My message to the team is to forget about [Landboudal's] size, because size means nothing when your heart is in the right place," he added.

The big hearted grade 12 learner has big plans for the future, as he is planning to join the Boland Academy U20 squad next year.
