Captain's Profile: Willem Steenkamp

Former Pumas Under-18 prop and Hoërskool Middelberg captain Willem Steenkamp is hoping to continue his good form when his team face HTS Middelberg in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.

The prop has been happy with his teams results so far this season and hopes they will go into the game with the correct mindset and strategies.

"Our season has gone well so far this year. We have played some hard games and this weekend is going to be just as hard and I am sure we will be ready.

"They are going to use their big forwards which means we will be able to use our backs to counter their big forwards," Steenkamp said.

Steenkamp represented his province at the Academy Week last year and has been selected for the Pumas Under-19 side for this year. This experience can only help his side tremendously.

Last years result was close and Steenkamp thinks that his side has learnt from what happened last year.

"We made a lot of mistakes last year against HTS but we have worked really hard to not make those mistakes this year," he added.

The Middelberg derby is always a tight affair and this year should be no different, Sttenkamp and his side are ready for whatever the visitors bring on Saturday.
