CC: HS beat HTS in Sasolburg
In an FNB Classic Clash in Sasolburg on Saturday, the Hoërskool beat the Hoer Tegniese Skool 29-18.
The continues the list of close contests between the two schools. HTS won in 2008 and Hoërskool in 2009 and 2010 and HTS again in 2011.
In the first half at the DP de Villiers Stadium, HTS attacked with all they had in the first half. The yellow card against Sasol High let to two quick tries by wing A Griesel of HTS.
Tries by fullback Neville Robertson and eighthman Stefan Meyer levelled the scores just before half-time but flyhalf Org de Beer gave HTS a 13-10 half-time lead with a penalty goal.
Sasolburg High came back strongly in the second half. Henco Wiese (replacement scrumhalf) scored after a brilliant backline move. Fullback Neville Robertson scored his second try in the 60th minute. Philip Liebetrau (wing) scored a try in the 70th minute to secure the game for Sasol High. Dewald Hanekom of Sasol High converted two of the second half tries.
Sasol High's eighthman Stefan Meyer received the man of the match award.
About 2,000 spectators attended the match. The first team game was preceded by the traditional Big Brag by both schools.
