College Climb Over the Berg

Maritzburg College are taking 21 rugby teams up over the Drakensberg and on to Johannesburg to play rugby with 21 teams from King Edward VII School in their Houghton home.

It is becoming a bit of annual toing and froing – a great experience between two similar communities. It is also a Premier Interschools match and so will enjoy much television exposure, including a live broadcast of the 1st XV match.

Season So Far

KES have been having the better season and are ranked 18th on the Schools Top 20. College are unranked.

KES have played 12 matches, winning nine, drawing one and losing two. They have played against four Top 20 sides.
College have played 13 matches, winning seven and losing six. They have played against two Top 20 sides.

KES players are eligible for the Golden Lions schools teams, College for the Sharks.

At this year’s Craven Week, the Golden Lions had two teams.
