Colour clash in Kroonstad
On Saturday in Kroonstad there will be a huge crowd – bigger than many Super Rugby matches – at the Rooiskool for the FNB Classic Clash between red and blue, Rooiskool and Blouskool – Afrikaanse Hoërskool Kroonstad and Hoërskool Kroonstad.
The Interschool celebrations last the whole week with hockey and netball on Friday and then the rugby on the Saturday. It is also a time when both schools have reunions.
They are the main rugby schools in the gold-mining town and their rivalry is intense, though it may just be that the Rooiskool is pulling away. Certainly they have been having a better season in 2014.
The Blouskool last won in 2007 and the last two years has seen big wins for Rooiskool – 45-0 in 2012 and 43-16 last year.
