Cradock High's rugby fixtures

Cradock High Schools, one of the oldest schools in South Africa as it can trace its permanent foundation back to 1848.

The school has had some famous players through its classrooms, including Springboks two Michaus, for this is Michau country – Mannetjies and Baby, both big men – Fiks van der Merwe, Jorrie Jordaan, Giepie Wentzel and famous Salty du Rand, who was born in Hofmeyr near saltpans, hence his nickname.

The school's rugby spent last year rebuilding after SARU forbade Under-16 players to play in Under-19 teams but this year it has high hopes.

Last weekend Cradock played in the Kirkwood Sportfees and beat Victoria Park of Port Elizabeth 18-8. This weekend they play Andrew Rabie as part of the Despatch Sports Festival.
