Daniël Pienaar await Kwagga attack
The Kwaggas ofGeorge will be taking on the 300km journey to meet the Tiere of Uitenhage, on Saturday – Outeniqua against Daniël Pienaar as part of the Burger's rugby competition for schools.
The Kwaggas come off a big win against Struisies in Oudtshoorn and Daniël Pienaar were able to beat Marlow in their backyard.
Kwaggas have had an extremely good season to date and have played 16 games – won 13 – lost 2 and squared with Paarl Gym.
The Tiere season has also been great, having played 14 games – won 12 – lost 2.
It is expected that Outeniqua will play an expansive game trying to get their speedy backline going.
The flyhalf, Dewald Human, is evasive and does everything at speed. This creates space on his outside, that is exploited by the quick backs.
Daniël Pienaar will try and stop this by keeping the game close to their big forward pack, before unleashing their backs. (Against Marlow the Daniël Pienaar backs were phenomenal)
On paper Outeniqua seem to be the team to beat and many a fan is expecting nothing less.
Daniël Pienaar lost to Oakdale by +/- 30 points whereas Outeniqua beat Oakdale by +/- 30 points, and so many a fan is expecting a walk-over in Uitenhage.
Outeniqua have a team of stars with most of the team being part of the South Western Districts Craven Week teams. Daniël Pienaar have only three players that were part of the Eastern Province teams.
Fortunately, the Tiere have been the underdogs in most of their big encounters, but have come out tops.
This game is also a semifinal as part of the Burger competition.
Outeniqua being the top school in South Western Districts and Daniël Pienaar coming out tops in the Eastern Cape of teams willing to take part in the competition.
A great encounter is expected, with the winners going through to play Paarl Gym in Paarl.
