Daniël Pienaar in big win in the wind

Match Report

In cold, windy Uitenhage, Daniël Pienaar beat Port Rex 48-13 on Saturday after leading 19-6 at half-time.

Apart from the first 15 minutes of the second half the Tiere were in complete control of the match. It is to Port Rex's credit that they tried right to the end and their forwards gave a good account of themselves but on current form Daniël Pienaar are a difficult side to contend with.

Daniël Pienaar's forwards again set the stage for the victory, and lock Cedric Nel again played a big part. The Daniël Pienaar backs improve with each match and against the wind in the second half scored three beautiful tries.

Scorers:

For Port Rex:
Try:
scrumhalf Sheldon Deysel
Con: 1
Pens: 2

For Daniël Pienaar:
Tries:
lock Cedric Nel – 2, flank Johann Bekker, scrumhalf Ignick Windvogel – 2, inside centre Bertus van Niekerk, outside centre JP Schuin, left wing George Jacobs
Cons: flyhalf Louis Kruger 3, fullback Rudolf Smit
