Day 3 at Tony Stoops Rugby Festival
The twelfth Tony Stoops Rugby Festival ended at Hoërskool Brackenfell on Wednesday 20 March 2019, and 34 rugby teams went home.
They went home, slightly different from what they were when they came, richer in memories and experiences that will stay with them forever.
That is true, not only of the boys who had a chance to play, mix and meet, but also for the schoolmasters who brought them and the families that came with them.
In 2008 at the first festival which ex-schoolmaster Tony Stoops founded, there were eight teams. On Day 3 there were 34 schools playing in a festival that neatly sidesteps any elitism in offering opportunities for all.
Three teams won all three of their matches – Cederberg Academy of Citrusdal, New Orleans of Paarl and President of Goodwood in Cape Town where the first Festival took place.
