Defeat ends Muir's season
Muir season ended with a low, going down 17-57 to Graeme College in Grahamstown in their final rugby fixture for 2012.
From the start, Graeme showed their intent and scored early on through superb ball retention and passing. Muir then dominated territory and possession for a period, testing the Graeme defence. Graeme increased the intensity of the match and raced into a 7-27 lead at the break.
More of the same followed in the second half as Graeme ran in more tries. The Graeme forwards laid a solid foundation and combined well with their backline. Muir hit back with two tries of their own but could not close the gap created by the hosts.
Muir’s tries came from centre Jonathan Dos Santos, prop Luvo Cakwebe and wing Xolela Daniels, while Joel Wates added a conversion.
Mention needs to be made of Muir’s prop pairing Blake Callahan and Luvo Cakwebe who had standout games and played until the final whistle. They were supported by lock and captain Lutho Njobe, eighthman Luxolo Koza, flank Ray Triegaard and fullback Neo Mehlwana.
