Die Brandwag too strong for Muir
Die Brandwag hosted Muir in traditional schoolboy rugby rivalry which goes back many a year, for they are both both top academic institutions in the garden town of Uitenhage. Die Brandwag, leading 21-3 at the break, ran out comfortable winner by a 40-3 margin.
Although Brandwag had the better of Muir in recent years it takes nothing away from the competitive spirit of the day. This year's match at Die Brandwag was played in an excellent, yet competitive, spirit with Die Brandwag scoring six magnificent tries to the single penalty by Muir College. Muir’s penalty was kicked by fullback Ruben de Vos.
Mention must be made of lock partners Lutho Njobe and Malusi Sitatu who played well and tried their best to stop the onslaught of Die Brandwag. Once again flank Sibabalwe Jikani had a standout game. Lunathi Nxele running at flyhalf was like a little general for the Muir backline in both attack and defence.
