Die Burger's competition at its climax

Hugenote, Bredasdorp winners

Die Burger has a rugby competition in its main distribution area. Two of those competitions are complete and third is due soon for a final.

The area involved includes Western Province, Boland, South Western Districts and Eastern Province.

The schools are in categories – big, medium and small schools

Hugenote of Wellington played against Despatch in the final of the Medium Schools, Hugenote winning 31-14 after a close first-half which ended with the score just 17-14.

In the semi-final Hugenote beat Tygerberg Club of Florida Park while Despatch beat Punt of Mossel Bay,

The final of the Small Schools was lively. Both sides gave the ball air and in the end Bredasdorp beat Itembelihle of Port Elizabeth 27-10.

In the semi-finals Bredasdorp beat Zwaanswyk of Cape Town and Itembelihle beat Groot-Brakrivier.

Paul Roos will play in one of the Big Schools finals after beating a tough Drostdy team of Worcester 24-10.

The Big Schools final will be played on 26 August.
