Falakie Phonosa - Captain of HTS Potch
HTS Potchefstroom have made a great start to the season, having won five out of their seven games, and their skipper Falakie Phonosa is hoping the good times will continue against Potchefstroom Boys High this weekend.
The confidence levels in the HTS Potch side may be high, but their captain knows that they are in for a stern test when they line up in the FNB Classic Clash on Saturday against a Potch Boys High side that he says cannot be underestimated.
“We expect a very tough game as we know that they rely a lot on their strength. In order to beat Boys High we have to be better prepared and focused on the task at hand. I’m not taking anything away from them though; they deserve the necessary respect too,” he said.
According to Phonosa his side is solid overall, but the backline is their greatest strength, so although he made Craven Week as a fullback last year he has shifted to flyhalf this year to be closer to the action.
“I’m more a fullback than a flyhalf, although I enjoy playing flyhalf because I love directing the tempo of the game,” he said.
The HTS Potch captain is looking forward to the occasion of the local derby this weekend which is always well supported, and is confident that it will be a memorable match.
“There will most definitely be a good crowd because this is one event that not many like missing. There has been an exquisite atmosphere since the beginning of April and it will definitely be there come Saturday,” he said.
