Festivals in Malmesbury & Tygerberg
There are two Festivals to come, one in the Swartland of the Boland and one in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs. The one in Malmesbury has several 1st XVs from schools. The one at Tygerberg had s Under-16, Under-15 and Under-14 teams.
Swartland Festival
Picturesque Malmesbury once again welcomes an interesting selection of teams, both local and from the UK, for two days, Thursday 17 and Saturday 19 July 2014, packed full of matches.
The full programme, as regards the Under-19 teams, is available in the Fixtures section of this site. The teams due to participate are Tygerberg, Bellville, Durbanville, Stellenberg (WP), Swartland, Charlie Hofmeyr, Piketberg, Augsburg Gym (Boland), Despatch (EP), Volkskool, Cradock (EP Country Districts) and English tourists Pates Grammar School, Manchester Grammar School and Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe.
Several of the teams will be bringing 2nd XVs and four junior age-group matches are scheduled for the first day, including two sides from tourists Campbell College of Belfast.
Many Capetonians have taken the opportunity to make a full day of it in the Malmesbury area, taking a brief detour to enjoy memorable lunches in the legendary eateries of neighbouring Riebeeck Kasteel.
Oh, and there is a large-screen TV on which one can watch the Craven Week final on the Saturday, if the rugby on the field doesn't hold your attention.

Tygerberg Junior Festival
The increasing popularity of and focus on rugby in the Under-15 and Under-16 age-groups has ensured the continuation of the Tygerberg Junior Festival.
Stokkies Truter, co-conspirator in the presentation of the annual Tony Stoops Rugby Festivals, has once again put together a comprehensive programme for the the 2014 version, which also takes place on Thursday 17 and Saturday 19 July 2014, up at Hoerskool Tygerberg.
Some of the schools are actually sending teams to participate in both festivals.
Schools attending this showpiece include Rondebosch, Tygerberg, Brackenfell, Stellenberg, Bellville, Strand, Bernadino Heights, Kasselsvlei, Drostdy, Swartland, Porterville, Weston Secondary, Despatch and Campbell College.
The reason for the popularity of these two festivals is the chance it gives the various participants to gear up for the tough final si: weeks of the season, while possibly blooding some promising new talent at the same time.
